Activity Overview
The Heritage Village in Pinellas County is a great way for you and your family to discover what life was like during the 19th century. There are nearly 30 different buildings that serve as a fine example of both the architecture of the time and a great way for kids to learn without even realizing it! The village is filled with artefacts from the time and fascinating exhibits which are housed in a number of original and historic buildings that were transported from their original location to their current home in the Heritage Village.
Things to Do
- The "Pinellas Passport: Your Ticket through Time" exhibit explains the history of Pinellas County. You and your family will learn about a variety of industries that helped shape the area as well the agriculture in the area.
- Walk around the various structures that constitute the Heritage Village. You can even go into some of the buildings so don't miss your opportunity to literally take a step into the past.
- Learn more about Florida's colonial history by checking out the "For God and Gold" exhibit.
- Discover some of the gadgets invented to make the lives of housewives easier in "Quick and Easy: Gadgets for the Home". The kids can also visit the Ralph Reed Gallery to interact with the exhibits.
- Be sure to pick up a souvenir of your visit to the Heritage Village at the gift shop.
