Hester street playground is located in Sara D. Roosevelt Park on Hester street between Chrystie and Forsyth streets in NYC. The newly renovated playground features state-of-the-art playground equipment for children to play with. The playground has ADA-compliant playground equipment, plantings, green spaces, and public restrooms. Hester street playground was designed by landscape architect Allan Scholl. Playground is a part of 7.85 acres Sara D. Roosevelt park, the park was constructed in 1934 and was named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt's mother.
Things to Do
- The playground is a cool little oasis in downtown for some outdoor fun, there is a large play structure on the left side of the entrance, and an enclosed toddler area on the right.
- The playground has slides, climbing structures and swinging tires.
- The playground is surrounded by Soccer fields and basket ball courts in the Sara D. Roosevelt park.
- Near the entrance there are eight picnic tables, where families can have a lunch together.
- The playground has a shock absorbent surface and lovely decorative mosaic tiles set into the wall.
- There is a huge sand pit kids can play in.
- The spray shower is activated in the hot summer days.
- The park is safe and clean and has drinking fountains.
- Public restrooms are located near the entrance.
