Activity Overview
The Highland Park Playfield offers quite a few activities in a relatively small space. Kids, teenagers, parents and dog owners will all find things to do here. Located in a vibrant and culturally diverse neighborhood this may not be one of the best known of Seattle's many parks but it can still provide a fun day out.
Things to Do
- Highland Park provides a nice play area for little kids. There is a play structure that includes slides, swings and plenty of things to climb on. Best of all is the wading pool which is opened during the summer months. The various features that spray out water in all directions are great fun for toddlers to run through. It can also be nice for you to get a break from the summer sun so don't be afraid to don your bathing suit and play with your kids when you bring them down too!
- The other amenities in the park appeal to older age groups too. Beside the playground is a tennis court while you can also find two softball fields.
- The Park is particularly popular with local dog owners. It offers a great off leash dog area where you can let your dog run free.
Highland Park in West Seattle Insider Tips
- If you are in town around New Year's Eve check out the celebrations organized by the Highland Park Improvement Club. In recent years they have gathered the local residents for the Not So Silent Night Parade. This family friendly event basically involves the locals making as much noise as possible to ring in the New Year.
