Historic New Orleans Collection museum is located adjacent to the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA. The museum was founded by General L. Kemper Williams in 1966, and it preserves the history of New Orleans and the French quarter. The historic New Orleans Collection museum is more than a museum, it preserves and restores the Royal street complex having many architectural gems. The museum is a special place to visit, and has an educational value for the children. Visitors can take free self-guided or docent-led tours of the museum galleries and the architectural sites. Museum hours operate Tuesday through Sunday.

  • Families visiting the museum will get an insight into the history of Louisiana from the early 18th century to the present. Self-guided tours are free.
  • The historic collection includes buildings, courtyards, and styles of architecture that take you back to the old days.
  • See the Louisiana history galleries, the Williams gallery in the 1792 Merieult house, and the 1794 Counting house.
  • Visit the 1889 townhouse, the Williams residence, the three-story Maisonette, the 1788 Louis Adam house, and the Creole Cottage.
  • You can see and explore a variety of exhibitions, having videos, portraits, maps, paintings and more.
  • The gift shop sells items from the historic collection, gifts, jewelry and housewares.
