Horseneck Beach State Reservation is a popular recreation area near Boston that is known for its sandy beaches and beautiful estuary. The reservation is located on a peninsula in Buzzards Bay, a gorgeous nature area off the coast of Massachusetts that is famous for its outdoor recreational activities. In addition to swimming in the bay, visitors to Horseneck Beach can enjoy activities such as hiking, cycling, bird watching, windsurfing, fishing, and camping.
Things to Do
- Go swimming in the bay! Swimming is allowed at designated beaches which also provide on-duty lifeguards in the summertime.
- Cool off in the summer heat while doing other water-based activities like windsurfing, kayaking, and canoeing.
- Go on a family hike or bike ride along the reservation's trail.
- Spend some time relaxing on the beach, playing sand volleyball, or building sandcastles with your child.
Horseneck Beach Reservation Insider Tips
- Spend the entire weekend enjoying the great outdoors as a family by camping at Gooseberry Neck, a campground with 100 sites that is open each year from mid-May until mid-October.
- Bring along a pair of binoculars and a bird guide and go bird watching! The reservation is one of the top spots for bird watching in New England.
- If you arrive early in the morning or late in the evening, you might be able to avoid paying the daily parking fee of $13 to $15 per vehicle.
