Become a master at the illusion of levitation with this exciting trick that every magician should have up their sleeve. All that you need to perform this simple and amazing trick, is a bed sheet, an assistant who is good at keeping secrets and a little bit of practice time before the show. In this trick, young magicians will learn how to perform the human levitation trick in which a few magic words can make his or her assistant rise up off of the ground.
Materials Needed
- An assistant
- A large bed sheet
How to Do It
- Stand facing your audience and ask your assistant to lie down face up on the floor in front of you.
- Next you are going to drape the sheet over your assistant's body.
- Lift the sheet up in front of the assistant for a few seconds and talk to your audience.
- As planned ahead of time, you assistant should roll over quickly into a face down position still laying flat on the floor. Then officially drape the sheet over the body.
- Wave your hands or wand and say some fancy magic words.
- As you say the magic words, that is the signal for the assistant to slowly lift himself or herself. He or she should start by slowly straightening and lifting one leg and gradually getting himself or herself straight bodied, with one leg out straight and one knee on the floor and both hands in push up position.
- Lay the sheet back down over your assistant.
- Next, wave your hands or wand again and signal another magic word as your assistant's cue to slowly lower herself or himself back to the ground.
- As you lift up the sheet, lift it in the same manner in which you lowered it, pulling it up from the back and holding it for a second until your assistant can roll back over onto her or his back swiftly. This last action will protect the integrity of your illusion.
- Take your bows!
