The Indiana State Fair started out in 1881 in Indianapolis, Indiana, it is an annual fair centered on agriculture and youth that is usually held in August. The idea behind the Indiana state fair was to provide a platform to local farmers for displaying their products, and learn the modern farming techniques. Indiana state fair is one of the oldest in the country, the prominent landmarks are the fairgrounds Coliseum, the boy scout legacy bridge, the glass barn and the youth arena. Families frequent the fair every year, the fair provides potential for learning and quality recreation for the whole family. The fair is a 17-day daily event, the 2015 fair celebrates year of the farmer.

Things to Do

• The state fair provides plenty of recreational opportunities for the families, the family fun park is open daily, it features children's stage, bicentennial train, farming, pony rides and go Karts.
• Families will enjoy interesting shows including tractor pull, knights of valor, bull riding, the wild west show, horse pulls, harness racing, monster trucks, and music bands.
• The harvest pavilion features the history and modification of corn, virtual games, multimedia, flower planting station, and LEGO farm.

• The expo hall features a variety of merchandise and the gazebo gift shop features apparel, and unique gifts.
• Enjoy riding the giant Ferris wheel in the midway rides. See a number of animals in the livestock nursery.
• The Indiana state fair car show is held on the final day, see a variety of vintage Indiana-owned vehicles.
