Activity Overview
Island Crest Park and Deane's Children Park border one another and each offer a fun day out. Deane's Chidren Park is affectionately known as "Dragon Park" by locals thanks to the large sculpture of a dragon that also serves as a kid's slide which serves as the park's centerpiece. Island Crest Park meanwhile offers more open space and more choice of activities for a wider variety of ages.
Things to Do
- Young kids always love the friendly dragon that calls Deane's Children Park its home. The original dragon was designed by the artist Kenton Pies in 1965 though he came up with a fresh design to replace the old one in 2013.
- Kids have great fun running through the dragon's open mouth and sliding down his tail! The rest of the park includes more play equipment aimed at young kids and a pleasant sheltered picnic area.
- At Island Crest Park people young and old will find plenty to do. Two multi-use fields can facilitate soccer, football, baseball, softball and cross country running.
- There are a number of short trails that can be taken on by any standard of walker. You can check out a map of these trails here. There are also tennis courts, a batting cage, parking and restrooms available.
