Jackson Square is right at the heart of New Orleans' historic center. It is the perfect point of reference as you explore the many museums, cafés, bars and shops that fill the old world streets of the French Quarter. Things to Do
- Jackson Square makes the perfect place to stop and have a break from touring around while you are getting to know New Orleans. You can grab a coffee and a beignet from the nearby Café du Monde and sit on the grass if it's a nice day. Also keep your eye out for local artists displaying and selling their work; they typically hang their paintings on the park's fence.
- There is plenty to see and do in the immediate surroundings of Jackson Square. The beautifully designed St. Louis Cathedral is adjacent to the park with the excellent Cabildo and Prebytere museums on either side of it. Jazz groups can sometimes be found playing in and around the Square while there are all kinds of shops and galleries on the streets nearby that should be of interest.
