Joshua Tree Outdoor Desert Art Museum
If you and your family are looking for a way to have a day out and to appreciate art and sculpture, the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum is the way to do it! The "museum" is not your typical quiet art museum but rather an outdoor experience of artwork from the sculptor Noah Purifoy.
Though Purifoy passed away in 2004, he had spent the final 15 years of his life living out in the Mojave desert and creating a variety of assemblage sculptures. Today you and your family can visit this wonderfully-different artistic experience.
The museum remains open thanks to the efforts of the Noah Purifoy foundation. The non-profit private foundation ensures that Purifoy's work is both preserved and maintained as well as guaranteeing that the site of these works, the outdoor museum, is kept open in order to educate the public as well as engage the community in art.
