Activity Overview
The Kauffman Center for Performing arts is a performing arts theater located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri. Originally created as a non-profit organization, the building was built based on donations alone, without the use of any taxpayer funds, and is part of the Kansas City downtown redevelopment plan. It's the location home of the Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Ballet and the Lyric Opera.
Things to Do
- Watch a performance - From opera, ballet, and symphony performances, there are plenty of performances to choose from. As the home of various arts performances, you may opt to get a subscription package if you'll want to go to different performances that are spanning a couple of days. There is definitely something for everyone: adults & children alike.
- Attend an event - If you think that a performing arts theater is just for shows, think again. At the Kauffman Center, you may opt to attend other events such as TedX talks, dining experiences, even Happy Hour (for you adults).
- The performing arts theatre also is the host of the Chat Series, which talks about various topics such as women's empowerment, and addressing pressing issues within the community.
- Fancy hosting an event? The performing arts theater can be the site of wedding receptions, as well as other formal gatherings.

- If your family can't watch a performance, the gang can just admire the architecture inside & outside. To commemorate your trip, a gift shop has items available for sale which you can take home and proudly display.
- Don't worry about the seating - there really isn't a bad seat within the performing arts theater. The decor and the architecture has been designed in a way that there will be very limited obstruction to anybody's view.
