Kelly Ingram Park
If you're looking for an activity to do and a way to get out of the house on a nice day, why don't you head along to one of the oldest and most famous parks in Birmingham, Alabama? Kelly Ingram Park has been a feature in the city since towards the end of 19th century and is most famous for the demonstrations that took place during the early 1960s.
These demonstrations were part of the American Civil Rights movement and helped pave the way for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The park also acts as the gateway to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute which can be found on the west side of the park.
The park is a fantastic place to spend time outside as well as a great way to learn more about the Civil Rights Movement and the huge role that the city played in it at the time.
