Activity Overview
Located in the southeast corner of Golden Gate Park, the Koret Children's Quarter Playground was established in 1888 and has recently undergone renovation in 2007.
The newly renovated park features 2 large play structures, which include a rope climb, rock wall, swings and slides. Many more adventures abound in the spider web climbing structure, concrete slide, sand areas, and Carousel.
Things to See & Do
- Pay a small fee and ride the Herschel-Spillman carousel. Built in 1914, the ride features beautifully painted inside panels and a multitude of different animals including goats, horses, frogs, pigs, and a dragon to ride on!
- Plan for your child's birthday party at the park! The picnic area can be rented out for children's parties.
- Pack a lunch and have a picnic. The Koret Children's Quarter is large enough to entertain children and adults alike for most of the day.
- Build sand castles at the wet sand area!
Koret Children's Quarter Playground Insider Tips
- Public restrooms are on site and available to visitors.
- Parking is within reasonable walking distance of the play area. It will be beneficial to bring strollers for young children.
- For safety purposes, only adults accompanying a child are permitted to visit the playground during the day.
- Bring a change of clothes if your children will be playing in the wet sand area.
- Arrive prepared with sunscreen. The play area is open and lacking of natural shade.
- Have first aid supplies with you to mend any scrapes and boo boos.
