La Jolla Shores is one of the most popular beaches in the San Diego area and a great destination to take your family and the little ones. La Jolla measures a mile in length and includes plenty of different activities to keep children of all ages entertained, especially when the weather is nice. Fortunately for you and your family, the weather is often nice in southern California!
Things to Do
- Take to the water at La Jolla Shores in order to go surfing, boogie boarding, or body surfing.
- Go for a walk along the boardwalks or the beach in La Jolla Shores. It's a great way to get exercise and the views of the ocean are fantastic!
- Take the younger kids along to the playground and let them run around to their heart's content!
- Have a game of volleyball.
- Go snorkeling and scuba diving! You should consider taking older kids underwater to see some of the phenomenal marine life that calls the water around La Jolla Shores "home".
La Jolla Shores Insider Tips
- Head along to La Jolla Shores early if you want to find a parking spot. There is street parking available by the beaches which tends to fill up quite quickly during the summer months and busy periods. There is also a parking lot and if you wish to find a space, you should do so before noon or after 4:00 p.m. However, the parking solutions in La Jolla are free!
- It is illegal to go fishing at La Jolla Shores or take any of the marine life away from the beach so make sure the kids don't try to take any critters home as a souvenir of their trip!
