Lake Saltonstall is a recreational lake in Branford, CT, the lake is surrounded by hiking trails that meander through beautiful forests and let you get up close to the wonders of nature. The lake is particularly popular in families who like to fish, the 70-foot long dock is accessible for anyone, so everyone can enjoy fishing without any discrimination. The lake is named after Gurdon Saltonstall who became governor of Connecticut in the early 18th century. He built a mansion on the side of the lake for his family. The lake and the trails are open year round.

  • Enjoy fishing with your family at the lake, fishing is open from sunrise to sunset, for your own safety complete your activities before dusk.
  • The hiking and biking trails are a great way to get up close to nature and learn about a variety of plant and animal species.
  • The best times for fishing and hiking are April through November, you need to purchase a recreational permit for your family.
  • You get trail maps, free parking and invitations to special events as a permit holder. Buy your permit online.
  • Enjoy skiing in the winters and horse back riding can be enjoyed until February.
