Activity Overview
Stroll through Lincoln Homestead State Park, a stop on Kentucky's Lincoln Heritage Trail, which will show you a number of 18th-century cabins that are special to the family of Abraham Lincoln.
Visitors will find the original home of Abraham Lincoln's mother along with the blacksmith shop where his father was trained, and the home where his favorite uncle, Mordecai Lincoln, was reared.
The properties contain original furniture and fences from back in Lincoln's day which will transport the visitor back in time to the colonial and pioneer eras.
Things to Do
- Don't miss the bed slept in by Nancy Hanks, Abraham Lincoln's mother.
- Look for the blacksmith shop, which is filled with tools and other items used by these tradesmen.
- Take advantage of the site's golf course and appreciate the lakes and scenic vistas scattered throughout.
Lincoln Homestead State Park Insider Tips
- The park grounds, golf course and meeting facility are open year-round.
- The museum and gift shop are open from May through September, 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- The cabins are closed November through April and open weekends only in October.
