Loose park is a nice little get away in the Summers in Kansas city, Missouri, the park has a nice little spray park, where you can cool it off on hot days. The 74 acres of Loose Park has a beautiful rose garden, this rose garden has over 4,000 rose plants of 168 varieties. The park is popular historically as the battle of West Port during the civil war was fought in the area, which is now the Loose Park. The park is named after Ella Loose, who wanted to create a park to honor her husband, Jacob loose. The park has a walking trail, children's playground, tennis courts, picnic areas and other amenities.

Things to Do

  • Loose park offers many amenities for the families, The Loose Park trail is a 2.5 miles long walking trail for walking and running.
  • The Rose garden is the focal point of the park, beautiful varieties and colors of the roses and very pleasing to the eyes.
  • The park features Jacob L. Loose Memorial, and civil war cannon and markers, the cannon is located in the south end of the park.
  • There is a shaded picnic area in the park, a colorful play area for the children, and many tennis courts.
  • The park has taken a Green initiative, the park has many blue recycling bins, where you can toss empty cans and bottles.
  • The lake in the park has a steady population of water fowl, feeding them is not recommended. Lake also has ducks, geese and turtles.
  • Many events are held in the park, upcoming events include, Jazz in the Roses and Garden Faire, and other events.
