Activity Overview

Pick over 100 varieties of fruits at this over a century old Orchard overlooking the Connecticut River Valley in Middlefield, CT. With a plethora of activities and events that await you at Lyman, you will see that it is far more than just an Orchard, but more like a time honored traditional destination that your whole family will enjoy.

Things to Do

Pony Rides, Wagon Rides, Corn Maze

Apple picking: Pick your own apples from the vast orchard of apple trees. Great varieties available and lots of space to spread out.

Apple Barrel Farm Stand: You can buy anything you need at the Farm Stand if you choose not to pick your own. Pies,produce, cookies galore, homemade donuts, homemade jams and jellies,cider and more are all sold here.

Pumpkin Picking from the field. This is a hard to find activity that brings families back year after year. There is no better pumpkin picking feeling than picking your own from the patch where they grew. Yes, they are already cut, but there is more fun in the hunt for the perfect pumpkin.

Spectacular Views: You won't find any spot at the orchard that doesn't offer you an amazing panoramic view

Lyman Orchards Insider Tips

  • Visit when Fall Foliage is at its peak for the most spectacular views of the Connecticut River Valley.
  • This Orchard is quite large. Wagons are available to tote your pickings. If you have little ones, bring a stroller along.
  • Recipe sheets are available at the PYO checkout counters.
  • Open 7 days a week 9am to 7pm
  • Be prepared for a crowd when shopping at the Apple Barrel farm stand.
  • Helpers are available to help you navigate the corn maze if you need it.
  • The maze is massive, you can leave half way through if you have little ones that want out! There are signs pointing to the midway point in the maze.
  • Keep little ones close to you, so you don't get separated in the maze.
  • If you use a stroller or wheelchair in the maze, you will be offered a detour. If you need the detour you will not be able to enjoy the two overlook scenic bridge areas.
