Activity Overview
Located in Falmouth, minutes from Portland, the Maine Audubon Society's mission is to preserve Maine’s wildlife and its habitat by educating residents in the areas of conservation and action.
A visit to the Society will show you the many trails one can traverse to look for birds, plants and small animals. The Wildlife Care Center onsite allows one to look through the windows and see how injured animals are cared for in the exam room.
Also of interest is the Wildlife Center, where visitors can get to know the Audubon education birds. These birds can sometimes be seen outside on the arms of Audubon Society employees as well.
Things to Do
- Each Thursday join up with a group strolling around the Gilsland Farm Sanctuary in search of birds and other wildlife.
- Check the calendar for one of the Society's many educational presentations such as learning about how bees survive the winter, how other animals prepare for winter, and about the many, different owl species in the area.
