This is one beach where you won't have to worry about surfers making it ideal for families with young kids. The gorgeous Marina Del Rey is perfectly laid back and doesn't have the kind of waves that attracts cohorts of surfers like other beaches. Depending on your preference this will either be a good or a bad thing, though there is no denying the surrounding area and the beach itself is beautiful; and that is something everyone can enjoy.

- This is a seriously relaxing beach and benefits greatly from not attracting the same amount of people as other beaches in the area. It has a laid back vibe and comfortable sand making it a great place to lie out and de-stress. The water is calm and serene and there are lifeguards stationed seasonally making it a very safe place to swim.
Marina Del Rey Beach Insider Tips
- During the summer months a free weekend shuttle bus operates in the area. Stops along the route include Playa Vista, Fisherman's Village and Chace Park. Another inexpensive way of getting around is the Marina Del Rey WaterBus. The WaterBus runs during weekends in the summer and during special events.
- The Beach is well placed to enjoy other destinations and attractions nearby. The more popular Venice Beach is within walking distance as are the shops, restaurants and bars of Washington Boulevard. It is easy to combine a trip to the Beach with a visit to one of these or any other of the many notable places nearby.
