This is a lovely and incredibly affordable way to spend the day if you have a young family. It is free to enter Scottsdale's Mccormick-Stillman Railroad Park which is home to an historical train that can be ridden on for a very small cost. Apart from the real trains there is a model railroad building that enthusiasts will enjoy. An old carousel, two playgrounds and an arboretum ensure that there will be plenty here to keep everyone interested. It is possible to organize birthday parties at the Park.
Things to Do
- The Paradise and Pacific Railroad is the Park's main attraction. This 5/12 reproduction of a genuine Colorado narrow gauge railroad is a charming delight that is sure to entertain any young children you have with you. The track runs for a mile and features three steam locomotives and two diesel engines.
- Once your kids have had their fill of this wonderful attraction you can take them to the Scottsdale Charro Carousel. This Carousel is a real artifact from a time gone by having been built in 1950. It includes some 30 horses and two wheelchair chariots and has been meticulously restored to impress as it must of done when it was first built.

- A single ticket to ride the train or the carousel is only a dollar while a book of 12 tickets or an all-day wrist band both cost $10. Children under the age of 3 can board for free with a paying adult.
