Soon to celebrate its centenary the Memphis Brooks Museum of art is the oldest art museum in the state of Tennessee and counts among its very best cultural attractions. The building in which the museum is housed is a Beaux Arts beauty that is listed as a national historic landmark. Inside you will find exhibits dedicated to the Museum's permanent collection which includes renowned names such as Pissarro, Henri and Renoir. They also host fascinating guest exhibitions on a host of subjects along with educational programs for all ages.
Things to Do
- A walk through the Museum takes you on a wonderful journey from the art of Pre-Columbian cultures through to the works of modern day artists. Along the way you can see many impressive works by Renaissance, Baroque, Impressionist and 20th Century Artists. Regular talks are organised on these exhibits while tours of the entire museum can be organized when you visit.
