Activity Overview
The Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum tells the story of how a wealth of incredible talents from Memphis and its surrounding areas gave the world rock 'n' roll, soul music and much more besides. With its roots in gospel, country, blues and work songs from the 1930's and before the music that artists like Elvis Presley made at Sun Studios took the world by storm and became the defining music of the next few decades. Apart from that Memphis gave the world some of the finest electric blues, rhythm 'n' blues, soul, jazz and rockabilly ever committed to tape. All this wonderful music lends the city a special place in the social and cultural history of the U.S.A, a fact which this Museum aims to celebrate.
