Monroe Park is the oldest public park in Richmond, Virginia. This beautiful 7.5-acre Victorian park is named after U.S. President James Monroe and is known for its beautiful lawns and paths. Its attractions include beautiful shaded areas that are perfect for picnics as well as various historic statues. It's also a great place to take your child to get some fresh air while playing soccer or frisbee in the extensive green spaces.

- Go for a family walk around the park using its beautiful paths which wind through the trees.
- Visit the bronze monument to Williams Carter Wickham, an important Confederate general from Richmond in the Civil War.
- View the impressive stone fountain which was donated to the park in the late 1800s.
- Bring along a frisbee or a soccer ball to play with in the park.

- Feel free to bring your dog along for a walk through the park - just make sure to keep it on a leash at all times.
- Plan to visit the park in the daytime instead of at night, since it is not very well-lit.
- When you're finished exploring the park, consider stopping by the nearby Virginia State Capitol, a gorgeous building that was designed by Thomas Jefferson back in the late 1700s.
