This is one of the most iconic structures in Detroit. Known to tourists as the biggest fist bump photo opportunity, the Monument to Joe Louis named as "The Fist" is an eye-catching sculpture built to commemorate the strength of Joe Louis, both in his punches inside the ring and in his fight against racial injustice. The 24-ft long sculpture suspended mid-air in a pyramid structure was first installed in 1986.
