Activity Overview
A fascinating experience awaits visitors to the Noble Planetarium at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Inside the planetarium, educational videos will engulf the dome, and a high-powered projector will allow for 7,000 stars to be viewed.
Prior to showtime, one can peruse the surrounding exhibit area which includes on official Sputnik satellite, NASA's original Manned Maneuvering Unit that first allowed astronauts to fly in space untethered, a screen showing real-time information from the Hubble Space Telescope, and several displays of impressive meteorites.
Once inside the planetarium, you'll have the chance to learn about the solar system or see one of several movies nominated for an Academy Award, such as The Living Sea, Dolphins, Cosmic Voyage, and Alaska: Spirit of the Wild.
Things to Do
- See a laser show on the weekend.
- Attend a free "Star Party," held once a month from dusk until 10:30 p.m. in the museum parking lot, at which time you can peer through one of the many telescopes available and be guided by one of the astronomy experts on hand.
Noble Planetarium Insider Tips
- IMAX documentaries cost $7 per ticket for non-members with a discount for seniors and children 12 and under.
- IMAX films cost $10.50 for all non-members.
- Field trips and group outings are most popular in the spring and summer, increasing the number of museum-goers significantly. Most groups arrive at 10:00 a.m. and are gone by 2:00 p.m.
