Located just steps from Golden Gate Park are the beautiful shores of Ocean Beach. The fame of ocean beach is its miles of open sand, just perfect for all activities!

This beach offers a perfect spot for walking, beachcombing, sand castle building, and many other activities, yet due to currents and cold water, it is not fit for swimming.

Things to See & Do

• Enjoy a stroll along the shore. Children and adults alike will enjoy searching for shells and taking in the beautiful scenery.
• Build sand castles. with the ample amount of open space available, Ocean Beach is the ideal spot for letting imaginations run and creating ornate sand castles and sculptures.
• Bring a kite, or two! The windy conditions synonymous with San Francisco weather is perfect for flying kites. The open spaces at Ocean Beach provide ideal conditions for kite flying.
• Set up a game of tag.
• Bring some beach chairs and observe the waves, watch the surfers, and enjoy the views.

• Dress appropriately! (Layers) Ocean Beach can be foggy, chilly, and extremely windy!
• Do not swim at this beach. The water is extremely cold and currents are very strong.
• While bon fires are permitted, it is important to view the parks conservancy statement HERE before you pack your s'mores and firewood.
• Dogs are permitted on leash or voice command. Keep the beach clean, safe, and healthy by cleaning up after your dog.
