Bring the family on a trip down memory lane and visit the Old Hickory Railroad. This was built to commemorate one of the oldest built in the country, the Clinton and Hudson railroad. As of writing, the train is under reconstruction. Check their website first to know if the train is back in operation. The restoration is set to be completed by autumn of 2015.

Things to Do

• Purchase tickets to ride the steam train that was built in 1964. The train makes one run every Saturday and Sunday from mid-March to mid-November. Call ahead for the schedule.
• Make this a weekend trip and visit other museums in the area. Purchasing the ticket at the Old Hickory Railroad includes a same-weekend admission to both the Republic of West Florida Museum, Centenary State, Port Hudson, Audobon, and a discount to the Rosedown State Historic Site.
• Drop by other nearby places of interest in Jackson such as a winery, and old inn, and a plantation. The Old Hickory Railroad's website lists all other areas here, including places where the family can grab a bite.
