Activity Overview
Pismo Beach, with its long stretch of white sand beaches, crashing waves of the Pacific, and surfers in their wetsuits, is the perfect example of a classic California beach experience. Bring the family for an incredible vacation by the beach and explore restaurants and shops in the area.
Things to Do
- If the waves are small enough for the kids, rent paddle boards, sign up for surfing lessons, or go kayaking. This is a dog-friendly beach so can bring your furry pets and play a game of fetch.
- Head on to the Pismo Pier and go for a long, quiet walk. Watch surfers catch waves or simply breathe in the Pacific breeze. The pier is also a great spot to catch the sunset and an observation deck to watch whales.
- If your trip falls anytime from November to December, don't miss out on seeing majestic butterflies at the Monarch Butterfly Grove. Every year, thousands of butterflies seeking refuge from the winter cold land and form clusters on rows of eucalyptus trees at the southern side of the beach. It's a wonderful sight to behold!
- If there's one food that you should not miss to eat here, it's clam chowder! You're in the "Clam Capital of the World" so set out and find the best dish in town.
