Activity Overview
Mix things up a bit and play a game of Water Balloon Volleyball. This game follows the rules of traditional volleyball, except that instead of a volleyball, you will be using a water balloon. Volleying will ensue when each team can each effectively use a towel and teamwork to toss and catch a water balloon over a volleyball net.
Materials Needed
- 4 players
- 2 towels
- A volleyball net
- Water balloons
How to Play
- Divide four players into two teams of two.
- Have each team stand opposite each other on each side of the volleyball net.
- Give each team one towel. The towel should be held by the two team players, one holding each end.
- Select a number of points that you will be striving for to achieve a win.
- One team starts by placing a water balloon in the center of their towel and working together in one motion to use the towel to fling the water balloon over the net to the other side.
- The other team attempts to carefully receive the water balloon in their own outstretched towel. Then they try to toss it back over.
- If the water balloon is dropped, the other team gets the point. ( Normal Volleyball rules apply. A point can only be made if your team started the first serve of the volley.)
