Activity Overview
The Pleasant Valley Drive-in Movie Theater is an outdoor attraction in Barkhamsted, Connecticut, which is located just 20 miles outside of Hartford. Since 1947, families have been able to enjoy watching movies together on their beautiful 3-acre lot alongside the Farmington River. Whether it's spring, summer, or fall, your family is sure to have fun enjoying this old-fashioned activity the same way it has been done for decades, by using a radio to listen to the movie's audio while surrounded by nature.
Things to Do
- Enjoy a double feature at the drive-in! You can learn more about the family-friendly films currently being shown here.
- Arrive early in order to pick the perfect viewing spot - the gates open at 6:30 p.m., and children often play games in front of the screen before the movie begins.
- Pick up a snack from the concession stand - they offer classic movie snacks like popcorn and candy as well as items like cheeseburgers and pizza.
Pleasant Valley Drive-in Insider Tips
- Visit the theater on Thursdays to take advantage of their "carload night" special, which allows you to pay a $20 admission price for everyone in your car instead of paying individual ticket prices.
- Make sure to bring insect repellent if you plan to sit outside of your car! If you forget it, you can also purchase some from the concession stand.
- If you're using your car's stereo to listen to the audio, it's a good idea to start the car occasionally in order to recharge the battery.
