Activity Overview
Rainbow Beach park is located in the South Chicago Neighborhood, the park is named after the US army's Rainbow Division that fought in world war I. The Rainbow beach and park totals an area of 61 acres and it offers many amenities and recreational activities for the families. The park has a beautiful beach and a comfort station outdoors, and two children's playgrounds. The park features a gymnasium, a fitness center, basketball and tennis courts, and baseball diamonds. The park also offers seasonal events through out the year.
Things to Do
- Families can enjoy many outdoor and indoor recreational activities at the Rainbow Beach park, it has two playgrounds for children near the North end of the beach, a scenic beach and outdoor comfort station.
- The park features a community garden, and a natural area of around 9 acres of Dune habitat.
- Families can enjoy swimming, life guards and first aid stations are available.
- The snack house "Lamont Puckett" is open everyday till 8 PM.
- Picnic areas with outdoor grills are available.
- The club rooms can be rented for private parties.
- Fitness classes, arts and crafts events, day camps for the youth, and sports league are held at the Rainbow Beach.
- The beach gives beautiful views of the Chicago skyline.
