Raptor Center

Activity Overview

The Raptor center rescues and provides medical treatment and rehabilitation facilities to injured and abandoned birds, mainly different species of Raptors. The Raptor center is located in University of Minnesota St. Paul's campus, it is a part of the University of Minnesota's college of Veterinary medicine. The Raptor center was founded in 1974, the center innovates new treatment for the raptors. The Raptor center treats more than 700 birds annually. The center is open to free tours Tuesday through Sunday.

Things to Do

• Free tours with a guide are available to the visitors, see a number of raptors in the center including bad eagles, falcons, hawks, owls, vultures, and American kestrels.
• Children would love to meet different birds, children will learn how they can protect the birds and play a role in preserving the environment.
• Guests can meet live raptors in the Raptors of Minnesota program, the program is presented on weekends.
• The drawing together event invites kids aged 8-15 and adults to a special workshop that involves live raptors presentation and drawing tools and skills to portray live birds.
• Visit the center in the spring and be part of the event when the rehabilitated birds are returned to the wild.
• Children can have a raptor-themed birthday party that includes hanging out with a raptor, arts and crafts, and raptor-themed goodie bags.
• Buy cool apparel and nature related gifts in the gift shop.
• The Raptor center encourages donations.
