Reading reptile is one of the few independent bookstores in Kansas city, and it is regarded as one of the best children's bookstores in the US. Reading reptile has been serving the community for the last 25 years, and it strives to encourage love for literature in children, and strike a balance between learning and fun. Reading reptile is the best store to take your children to for reading and literature recommendations. The place is way more than a book store, several community events are held at the book store. The bookstore is nicely decorated with story book characters, and there are lots of toys to play with.

• The bookstore is a wonderful place for families to spend some time together, a cute little bookstore that offers book reading, and children's books for sale. Enjoy reading a variety of children's books and get some recommendations from the staff. Reading reptile has the most diverse selection of children's books.
• A sweet little bakery is located inside the bookstore that was opened in 2010, it serves delicious cakes and pies, the treats are just too scrumptious to ignore.
• Several events are held at the bookstore, including summer craft workshops for children in ages of 8-14. Toddlers can enjoy "baby music time", an event held in June, July and September through October.
• "Story hours" feature lots of fun activities for children in ages 2-4 and 4-7, it involves clay play, magnet fun, gardening, collage and jewelry making, calenders, paper dolls and lots of fun and learning activities for the little ones.
• An event "book club" for kids is held September through December, kids will meet up once a month, read a total of four books in four months, it will be a fun event for kids in the ages of 6-8, and it offers book reading with snacks.
• Reserve the bookstore to celebrate your kid's birthday, several party packages are offered for kids in the ages of 3-9. Kids will have a memorable birthday at Reading reptile with themed crafts, story time, cupcakes, and a gift certificate for the birthday child.
