The Reston Zoo is a quaint zoo that is located a little off the beaten path in Vienna, Virginia. Do not underestimate this small rural attraction. You are able to interact more closely with the animals at this venue than you would at any of the larger more commercial zoos. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the animals are beautifully cared for and maintained. This is a fun little excursion for the whole family to enjoy.

Reston Zoo Insider Tips
To give your trip to the Restin Zoo a more hands on feel, consider purchasing some of the hands on extras that are available at a nominal fee. Some of these include Animal Feed cups, Lamb Bottles, Wagon Rides, Pony Rides, Paddle Boat Rides and budgie feeding sticks.
Be sure to time your visit to coincide with the hourly wagon rides. This is a must to get up close and personal with the animals.
Show your military ID to receive a complimentary feed cup.
There are no fountains available, so be sure to bring some water along with you unless you want to buy water at the Gate House.
Do plan to either bring your lunch for a picnic or explore other options, as food is not available at this venue...with the exception of ice cream bars.
