Activity Overview
Take a short ride outside of Burlington to the town of Shelburne, VT, where you will encounter Shelburne Farms, an impressive working farm that includes a barnyard, dairy, cheese making establishment, Market Garden and renowned restaurant.
The mission of the farm is to produce a sustainable food system and educate the public about such.
Numerous foods are available for purchase at the farm's Market Garden and Farm Store, including cheddar cheese, organic fruits and vegetables, maple syrup and pasture-raised lamb, beef, veal, pork and eggs.
Things to Do
- Children love to collect eggs from the barnyard chickens and even pick up one or two of the birds.
- Watch cheese being made in large vats and test some of the farm's cheddar cheese samples.
- Look over the Vermont products, crafts and books available at The Welcome Center.
- Take a tour of the property or hike around the establishment's scenic trails.
- Enjoy a fine dining experience at The Inn at Shelburne Farms, where the menu is built around whatever is being harvested on the farm at the time.

- Admission price is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children ages 3-17, and free for children under 3 and Shelburne, VT residents.
- Free passes to the Farm are available at many local libraries.
- Lunch and snacks are available for purchase at the Farm Cart from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
