Activity Overview

You don't have to fly to the Caribbean to see turquoise waters and feel fine, cool, white sand between your toes. Drive to Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida and take the family to see and experience one of the best beaches in the country. Siesta Key is a favorite of many families because of its wide shoreline and at low tide, the water here is shallow enough for kids to play in.

Things to Do

• Roll out your blankets, rent an umbrella, and go on a picnic with the kids. Use floaters and noodles available for rent too if the kids want to go for a dip in the water.
• Sign up for water activities and add more fun to your Siesta Key holiday. Go parasailing, rent a kayak or a canoe, and try your balancing skills on a paddle board.
• Join a sunset cruise for a different beach experience or take the kids out on a half-day fishing trip.
• Visit the playground near the parking or use the nets to play volleyball. Stay until the sunset or if you happen to visit on a Sunday, look for the drum circle organized by the locals.
• Bring water shoes and visit the Point of Rock at low tide. It's a great place for bird watching, shell picking, and snorkelling. It's slippery though so walk carefully on the rocky area.

• Free parking is available for all beachgoers. Come before 10AM to secure a parking slot. The beach can get crowded in the afternoon.
• Head further down the beach if you want to avoid the crowds.
