Activity Overview
Silver Lake is a small town in Mc Leod County, Minnesota. As the name makes obvious the town sits on the shoreline of the Silver Lake and its population does not even exceed 1000 people. As such the town is small and quaint though it also offers a surprising amount of activities for a community of its size.
Things to Do
- During the summer there is a range of sporting activities you can take part in if you and your family enjoy outdoor physical activity. There is volleyball, softball and basketball which you can play while there are also horseshoe pits where you can throw a few ringers too! At this time of the year free live music is also organized every Thursday while the first weekend of August sees their annual "Pola-Czesky Days" festival.
- Later in the year they have St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Winter Festivals to be enjoyed. There is also a Tournament on Ice organized by the Golf Association, a Bean Bag Tournament and a Knights of Columbus Fish Fry.
- While you are in town you should stop into their recently completed Bruce Maresh Aquatic Center.
- The city lies nearby the Luce Line State Trail. This 63 mile trail was once a railroad grade. Now it is open for walkers, hikers, cyclists, roller-bladers and whoever else wants to enjoy a brush with nature along its well-paved path. The Trail runs through four counties in total and you can take a look at its route here.
