Activity Overview
In total the South Fork American River Trail offers people about 25 miles of beautiful California countryside not far outside of Sacramento. A trip along this trail is the perfect antidote to the daily stresses of city living. Surrounded by swiftly running rivers, rolling hills, dramatic canyons and thick woodland the South Fork American Trail feels away from it all. You may take on this trail on foot, on a mountain bike or on a horse. However you do it you should be left refreshed and relaxed.

- There are a great number of trails which should appeal to a variety of levels along the main trail corridor. Depending on what time you come at and which part of the trail you walk along you can more or less have the place to yourself!
- A walk here is also a good excuse for amateur photographers to test their skills. If you have an interest in landscape photography this trail comes highly recommended.
South Fork American River Trail Insider Tips
- Remember that walkers, bikers and those on horseback all share the same trail together. The path can get a bit tight in places and is often rocky so however you choose to take it on keep your eyes open and be aware of others using the trail.
