The South Park Preserve is most famous for its bison population. These fabulous beasts were originally brought to the Preserve in the 1920's and ever since that time there has always been a permanent bison population looked after and available for viewing by the public at the park. There is much more to see and do here besides watching the bison with a long list of amenities including sports fields and courts, trails, a theatre and more.
Things to Do
- Kids always love seeing the bison up close since it isn't an animal you get to see all that often. Once they have had enough time with the big animals they can burn off their energy at the Preserve's playground. Bring along a lunch as there are lots of picnic shelters where you can eat.
- The number of sports facilities at the Preserve will please active visitors. With tennis courts, soccer fields, basketball and sand volleyball courts, ballfields, golf and mini golf courses and even a martial arts center there is a lot here to keep fitness freaks busy.
- Just about anyone can enjoy the various trails on offer too. They grant a relaxing break away from it all while also allowing visitors to experience the local area's nature and wildlife.
