This is a place where both children and adults can learn more about the early plantation days in the history of the United States. The Stagville State Historic Site is home to the remains of one of the largest plantations dating back to the pre-Civil War period. A visit to the Stagville State Historic Site gives the entire family the opportunity to walk on the extensive grounds of the former plantation that was once owned by the Bennehan-Cameron family. By 1860, the plantation had approximately 30,000 acres of land and about 900 slaves. Things to Do
