Activity Overview
If you are looking for a quick round family game to play, try the word game of Stairway. Stairway is an interesting word game that utilizes a word challenge to build a stairwell shaped structure on your paper. Each player works independently to build their own unique stairway of words until they can no longer continue building. The builder of the longest stairway is determined to be the winner of the game. It is also fun to share your answers and see whatothers were able to come up with when you were feeling stumped.
Materials Needed
- Paper and pencils for each player
How to Play
- The first player selects a letter that will start the stairway.
- Each player writes that letter at the top of their paper.
- Each player should form another word with two letters, three letters, four letters etc in succession. One word should be underneath the other with the first letter of the words lined up underneath each other.
- The words should progress one under another and adding one more number of letters for each word. The stairway will form as shown below.
