Activity Overview
Static Electricity is not the only attraction in this game. Little ones will love playing this neat fishing game that they can create and play. In this activity, static electricity is created on the ruler and when the ruler hovers over the tissue paper fish, the fish will actually leap right off of the table and stick to the plastic ruler fishing rod. this game can easily be made into a math game catching numbered fish and finding it's answer or doing math facts and having to catch the answers in a pool of answers.
Materials Needed
- Tissue Paper in different colors
- Plastic rulers
- Felt Tip Markers
- Scissors
- Piece of Wool or your hair
How to Make and Play
- Draw a whole bunch of 3 inch fish on tissue paper and cut them out.
- Decorate the fish with felt tipped markers and number them if desired.
- Scatter them out on the table and give each player a plastic ruler.
- Have each player take turns rubbing the plastic ruler on their close for several second or on their hair or a piece of wool fabric.
- Then each player should use the plastic ruler as a fishing rod and try to attract as many fish as they can in a turn.
- When all of the fish are gone, count the fish and whoever has the most is the winner.
