Activity Overview
The Sunsphere Tower is a big steel tower that served as the centerpiece for the 1982 World's Fair. It's topped with a glass colored sphere which also serves as an observation deck, exhibition area and restaurant. It is housed within the World's Fair Park, in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, and also serves as the symbol for the city.
Things to Do
- Go up the observation deck at the fourth floor - a cheap way to see the city - imagine how the tower has become a part of history. After the world's fair, the tower was not utilized, but thanks to conservation efforts, it is now open for everyone to see and view, and hopefully for future generations too. Great way to relive memories past and present with the young ones. It's free to go to the observation deck, making it a must stop for any visitor.
- Eat at the restaurant in the fifth floor - For amazing views of the city, this is the place to be - if your family can afford it, that is. It is quite a pricey place to eat, but you are essentially paying for the view so would be good to go to celebrate special occasions.
- See the other attractions of World's Fair Park - fountains, walking areas, and various lawns - it is an outdoor paradise that can be enjoyed by everyone: the little ones can enjoy running around in the fountain area, and picnics with the family can be done at the lawns.
