Activity Overview
Located in the heart of the historic district, the African American Museum in Philadelphia was one of the structures built as part of the city's bicentennial celebration and the first publicly funded museum in the country dedicated to African American heritage.
Focusing on such facets of life as sports, politics, entertainment and family life, the museum's four galleries have three overarching themes: The African Diaspora, The Philadelphia Story and The Contemporary Narrative which showcase the history, art, and culture of our African American citizens.
