Activity Overview
Well it doesn't get much better than this! I happened upon The Book Thing of Baltimore and the concept really drew me in as both a person who loves to donate books and loves to find new books. This facility's mission is to "put unwanted books in the hands of those who want them".
The nonprofit organization began in a bar when teachers who needed books for their classroom were talking about books that they needed for their classroom with a bartender who loved bargain classics. Apparently, the word spread and people starting bringing books into the bar and dropping them off and others came along looking for books. If you enjoy getting lost in reams of books of different genres, then this is the place for you.
Things to Do

- Declutter and donate books anytime day or night in the waterproof bin

The Book Thing of Baltimore Insider Tips
- The fun is in the find. You wont find a database of books that you can search by because the books move in and out so quickly. Volunteers can help to point you in the right direction.
- There is a wishlist of tax deductible donations that you can make for bookstore supplies like tote bags, books, bottled water, various gift cards, dictionaries and more
- Receipts are available for all donations upon request
- I'd recommend bringing your own bags or boxes to transport your books home.
