Activity Overview
The Depot is a hotel, a water park, an ice skating rink, and a gathering center, all housed in one big complex located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.
Things to Do
- Let the kids play around in the water park. It is suitable for mostly the kids, but the adults can have fun in the whirlpool. There is an arcade inside as well, so the kids can have dry activities once they're done with the water. The water park is only open during the weekends and various times during the holidays so better double check the operating hours on their website.
- Ice skate in the rink - what used to be a train shed was transformed magically in the rink that shows great views with its floor to ceiling glass panels. You normally don't get this kind of view elsewhere.
- Dine at the Depot Tavern - excellent dining, but note that this is a bar so probably not that suitable to bring the kids to, but has great reviews from various websites so worth a try.
- Stay and chill out at one of the hotels found in the complex.
The Depot Insider Tips
- You can host parties and other events in either the ice skating rink or the water park.
- Admission to the water park is free if you get the breakfast package at the hotels (Residence Inn or the Renaissance) in the depot. You can also get discounts at the rink for staying at the hotel.
- On certain days, military personnel & college kids can get discounted tickets to the rink. Check their website for more details.
