Activity OverviewBy the mid-1980's the city of Detroit had fallen on hard times so local artist Tyree Guyton decided to do something to fight the tide of poverty in his local neighborhood. With the help of his inspiring grandfather, the rest of his family and groups of neighborhood kids he began to create an indoor/outdoor living museum from the houses on his street. Battered and rundown properties were given a new lease of life as they were repaired and transformed into bright, colorful works of art using a plethora of colors and many found objects. Things to Do
