Activity Overview
No trip to Philadelphia would be complete without a visit to The Liberty Bell Center, the iconic symbol of Philadelphia and our country's freedom. This special monument is housed in a bright, expansive, glass chamber with Independence Hall in the backdrop.
Once inside the light-filled Center, visitors can see x-rays of the Bell's crack and its innards and will learn that the Bell's clapper caused the split on its first swing. One can also inspect historic documents and photographs which tell the Bell's stories and myths.
Things to See & Do
- Watch a film produced by The History Channel which explains the Bell's past and tells of the many groups who have embraced the symbol as their beacon of freedom.
- See additional exhibits that show how the Bell's image is used commercially, for example as an ice cream mold.
The Liberty Center Insider Tips
