Activity OverviewThe Little River Railroad and Lumber Company museum was founded in 1982 to commemorate, preserve and showcase the heritage and history of the little river railroad and lumber company. The museum is located in Townsend, Tennessee, it is former site of the little river lumber company mill complex. The lumbar company was founded by Col. W.B. Townsend in 1901. The company was famous for sawing timber in the smokey mountains and development of 150 miles of railroads that continued from 1901 to 1939. The museum offers free admission and is open to public tours April through November. Things to Do
